Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
DC Entertainment LLC ("Dung Chat", "we", "our", or "us") provides a location-based social game in which you claim the "thrones" of the places you visit. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have when you use the Dung Chat mobile app and related services (the "Service").
Dung Chat is fundamentally a game about where you are, so we treat your location as sensitive personal information. We designed the app to collect as little as possible and to give you strong controls over what others can see. We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for third-party advertising.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, and the handle and display name you choose. If you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive basic account identifiers from that provider (Apple may supply a private relay email if you choose to hide your address).
- Precise location: while the app is open and you grant permission, we use your device's precise location to show nearby thrones and to verify that you are physically present when you claim one. We do not track your location in the background. The coordinates at the moment of a claim are stored with that claim for anti-cheat auditing.
- Approximate area: we derive a general locality (such as city or neighborhood) from your location to power local leaderboards.
- Content you create: throne names, reviews and ratings, reactions, and other content you submit.
- Gameplay data: your claims, foundings, dethronements, scores, streaks, founder and ruler counts, cosmetics, and rivalries.
- Device and notification tokens: if you enable notifications, we collect a push token so we can deliver them.
- Usage analytics: a limited set of in-app events (for example, app opened, claim started, claim succeeded, review submitted, friend added, notification opened) to understand usage and improve the app.
- Support communications: if you contact us, we keep your messages and contact details.
We do not collect interior photos. The app only permits venue-exterior imagery, enforced in the interface and through moderation.
2. How we protect your location
Because where you go is sensitive, several protections are built in:
- Home throne fuzzing: if you set a home throne, it is never shown to others at its true coordinates — it is blurred to a neighborhood-sized area.
- Per-session broadcast opt-in: "currently claiming" broadcasting is off by default and can only be turned on for a single session at a time. There is no setting that makes it always-on.
- Ghost mode: you can claim without appearing in any activity feed and while being excluded from the Local and Global leaderboards.
- Mutual-friends default: social interactions are limited to people you have mutually added — there is no open interaction with strangers.
3. How we use your information
- To run the core game: show nearby thrones, verify and score claims, assign founder and ruler titles, and calculate leaderboards, streaks, and rivalries.
- To show you and your mutual friends relevant activity.
- To keep the game fair through anti-cheat and anti-abuse measures (for example, detecting location spoofing, impossible travel, and claim flooding).
- To send notifications you have enabled — you may opt out in settings.
- To moderate content, respond to reports, and keep the community safe.
- To provide support, fix bugs, analyze usage, and improve the app.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
4. How we share information
We share information only as described here:
- With your mutual friends: your non-ghost activity (claims, foundings, dethronements, reviews, reactions) is visible to friends you have added.
- Publicly within the game: throne names, aggregate ratings, and where applicable leaderboard standings and founder/ruler titles associated with your handle may be visible to other players.
- With service providers: we use Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, and push messaging), Google Maps and Google Places (to display the map and classify locations), and Google / Apple sign-in if you use them. These providers process data on our behalf.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, the public, or us.
- In a business transfer: information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the game. Claim and audit records may be retained for a limited period to support anti-cheat and integrity. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Some content (such as a throne you founded, or aggregate ratings) may persist in de-identified form after your account is removed.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and edit: view and edit your profile, handle, display name, and privacy settings in the app.
- Privacy controls: toggle ghost mode, manage your home throne, and control notification tiers in Settings.
- Notifications: disable them in the app or in your device settings.
- Location permission: revoke location access in your device settings (the app cannot function without it).
- Data export: request an export of your data from Settings.
- Account deletion: permanently delete your account and its associated personal data from Settings at any time.
EEA/UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, your consent (for example, location and notifications), our legitimate interests (security, anti-cheat, and improving the app), and legal compliance. You may withdraw consent at any time and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, access, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Children's privacy
Dung Chat is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We age-gate at sign-up and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, authenticated access, and server-side rules that prevent clients from forging scores or ownership. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other appropriate means and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
